- Paddy Field Hotel -

"In the morning, I gradually wake up with the sound of birdsong. Raise the curtain and opening the door, the fragrance of rice drifts in the wind. Walk through the alley and come to the restaurant to enjoy a hearty breakfast. Dappled sunlight shines on the ground, chair backs, table corners, and faces through the skylight and the plants on the roof. After breakfast, I'll pick up a book and walk through the rice field in front of my room, sit in the garden in the middle of the field, and pick some tomatoes and cucumbers for snacks."

This is the scene and memory that Paddy Hotel wants to create for its guests. The site is located in a small town in Zhejiang Province, and the scenery of Jianglang Mountain can be seen in the distance. The entire project consists of multiple hotels surrounding a vast paddy field, and our hotel is located in the east end. As a result, the small site has an open and private view to the side adjacent to the fields. Due to the constraints of relevant design conditions, the buildings on the site are densely stacked. So I tried to combine the characteristics of Nolli Map with the life style of people living in alleys in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas, so that a very close nested relationship can be formed between public areas, paths and guest rooms. A variety of interesting small space forms grew out of this, and gradually spread in every corner as people walked.
