Zibai Mountain - Autumn
This is a large-scale project located in the Zibai Mountain International Ski Resort in Liuba. As an innovative and identity-creating building, the new visitor center should be in harmony with the local settlement pattern on the one hand, but on the other hand it should also assert itself as a high-quality, international tourism exhibition center and tourist service center.
The difficulty of this project is that the site provided by the government is very narrow and long, and the height difference within the site changes greatly. Therefore, we need to comprehensively consider parking efficiency, parking circulation, the connection between the height differences and floors, as well as creating a smooth and interesting visitor experience on this basis. Meanwhile, people will most likely have to stay in the visitor center for a longer or shorter time, so it is very important to bring the magnificent surrounding mountain scenery into the building and blow it out with equally strong momentum.
Our strategy is to extract the mountain lines and cut the long and narrow site horizontally to form a sequence of sections. This further generates the structural sequence and functional sequence of the building. Then the direction and shape of the roof can be settled down. Additionally, a river runs through the site as well, which naturally generates a relationship between this bank and the other.
The numerous difficulties brought about by the limitations of the site were unconsciously integrated into the building through design, becoming an inevitable condition for the uniqueness of the building.
