Set in an old shipyard, the project invents a new experience of seaside travel. Set in the site of old ship factory, the project invites visitors to a unique immersive experience - a plunge into island life that is far away from mainland, the beauty of the landscape, and traditional fishing.
Except a ship repair shop and two abandoned ships, all of the old factory buildings will be destroyed. The shop will be renovated into an art gallery, and the old wooden ships will be refurbished into a bookstore and a cafe. At the same time, the remaining open space after demolition will accommodate three boutique hotels and a series of public service buildings.
The nature of the island inspired the project. In the creation of the facade, the materials are clear, left mostly raw, and shaped into organic forms, consistent with their environment. Tidewater stone, wild wood, and shell are the main local materials used, marking each of rooms. Some of the houses will be sold as commercial properties, so all guest rooms will be made to feel like home and the public spaces will be more comfortable and welcoming.
