This is a tutor-based research project based on mereology, the study of part-relations, as a methodological framework to design a building as part of a city. The purpose of this research is to generate reversable blocks given an input discretised shape for the generation of interlocking and practical structure, following algorithmic logic in diverse 3D typologies.
Starting with the research about throey and the city environment of the site, which is located in the central London, developing the concept, computational program and digital model, and end up making a 3D animation movie, this project has given me the depth of understanding to exploit computation fully in the context of world-leading design and research. Meanwhile, it is helpful for me to use computation as a technology to change the way I design, think, and produce.
