- Chengdu Forest Hotel -
The location of the hotel affords forest views of the park in town on one side and cityscape vistas on the other. The volume and roofline of the building react and respond directly to the flowing landscape of the site.
The limitations of this project make it difficult to shape a flexible appearance. However, most of the city hotels are regular and boring, which makes me manage to break down the inner circulation. Thus, to blur the boundaries between walls, floors and ceilings, the organisation of the views and the programme distribution of the house will be determined by a single gesture, "the twist". This central element supports the main staircase as it guides and organises the main flows through the house. The direction of each curve is determined by a set of diagonal movements.
