- Stray Birds Resort -

This is a magical place - the building seems to grow out of the huge rock while plants stubbornly grow in their gaps. It is hard to imagine how the ancestor built up the entire village by hand, because even today, it is difficult for structure engineers to provide a transformation plan that does not destroy the original structure.
This village originally housed more than a dozen families, but now only two elderly ones live here. Almost all of the buildings are in a state of disrepair, but thier foundations, built with a unique kind of red rock, are still very solid. Following the ups and downs of the mountain, the buildings are placed in height, so that they do not block each other's view.

On the base of different situations of each building, I combined some of them by roof, refurbished several roofs that were in danger of collapsing at any time and houses with dilapidated walls, and even renovated the pigsty into a small cafe. At the same time, the former road system on the site was very scattered and disorderly, so I reorganized the paths with landscape, grey space, and colonnades to guide the future guests from public area to their rooms with architectural language.
The original colors of the site are very rich - peacock blue, shale red, rammed earth yellow - so I boldly retained and used the unique local materials and colors to the new ones. Designing here was a very special and unforgettable experience for me.
